Also confined space access i;e; vessels, columns and pits
May be requested for inputs into technical bids
Should be able to evaluate vendors technical bid offers
Review engineering request for other disciplines design activities
Collect all design information, submit requests to EDMS (existing drawings, SLDs, equipment data sheets)
Identify date and time for plant visit with responsible Project Engineer or Discipline Lead Engineer
Take PPE, measuring tape, camera, laser, sketch drawing sheet, pencils, etc; As required; Safety passport should be available and up to date prior to travelling to plant
Upon arrival check-in to get access to red zone, if required
Sign up in register log in control room, get permit from electrical Control Room for inspection according to site visit rules;
Identify potential hazards that may impact site walk-down visit
Coordinate future tie-in points and similar line replacement tie-in points with Project Engineer according to marked-up P&ID and identify required scope of work for electrical discipline
Pre-design optimal cable route including location and type of supports and main parts of cable above ground structure (see potential obstructions generated by valves, instrumentation, vessels)
Include Safety in Design Guide principles during walk-down
Manually capture all required data into sketch and get sizes of general layout (elevation, object references, mark up columns, equipment, buildings)
Check out in control room and sign out at exit from red zone
