Position Summary

KIMEP University College of Social Sciences, Department of Economics , invites applications for one faculty position (open rank).

The position is a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time academic appointment to begin on 15 August 2019. Responsibilities include teaching, research, advising and service.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs.

We seek a talented teacher and innovative scholar who is actively engaged in research, enthusiastic about teaching at undergraduate and graduate level and serving the University, local community and the profession.

We are looking for a productive and cooperative colleague who will bring new perspectives to theory, research and practice in the field of Economics.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from all areas of economics invited to apply but preference will be given to those with an expertise in Econometrics, Macroeconomics or Financial Economics.

Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience would be an added bonus. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Economics or another relevant field from an internationally-

recognized, accredited university. Applicants for position should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas.

ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.

The College of Social Sciences

The College of Social Sciences has an accomplished faculty of 29 full-time and 10 part-time faculty and 4 dedicated administrative staff.

The College includes the departments of Media and Communications, Public Administration, International Relations and Economics.

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.

Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes basic healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, subsidy for children’s school tuition and relocation allowance.

New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.

The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10%) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
