  • Provisioning (making sure costs & revenues are being booked in the right monthly period) by checking invoices in (Purchasing) and invoices out (Sales)
  • Checking of administration invoices (in & out) carried out by the Administrative Assistant(s) Finance
  • Monthly administrative closing / final accounts
  • information supply & Reporting
  • Attending to periodic reports (monthly / quarterly / yearly) of the Sarens entity / entities concerned (also to W-Europe / HQ) in assistance of the Finance Manager / Controller.
  • Assisting in preparing the final balance sheet and the profit-and-loss account per period.
  • Assisting in preparing the annual report for the accountant.*Assisting in the annual wage and VAT reconciliations.conflicts that arise in work situations.
  • Communication

  • Maintaining contact with external parties, such as banks, insurance companies, tax authorities, suppliers, etc. with regard to financial administrative matters and also with internal stakeholders.
  • Actively participating in meetings of own department and attending other meetings in a contributing manner when and where needed.

  • Training

  • Minimum of AAT Accounting qualification level 2 (Association of Accounting Technicians) required to start as an Assistant Accountant, developing further to level 4 for an Accountant.
  • Other training courses related to high-quality job performance and / or working at Sarens
  • Assistant Accountant :

  • Good knowledge of the English language, speaking, writing and reading
  • Knowledge of Sarens’ Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of current and accepted automation packages and ERP systems pertaining to Finance
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and legislation
  • The ability to communicate clearly and be accepted
  • Costs awareness

  • VAT / tax legislation (VAT returns, penalties, corrections)
  • Knowledge of financial administration & bookkeeping process
  • Knowledge of journals, cash book, general ledger, profit and loss statements, balance sheet
  • Understanding of income / revenues and expenditures / costs
  • Understanding and knowledge of Final accounts / Assets / Value and Depreciation

  • For Accountant in addition :

    Knowledge of :

  • Financial (performance) reporting for management
  • Drafting and interpreting financial statements
  • Preparing budgets and income and expenditure forecasts

  • Monitoring, analyzing and managing costs
  • Assisting in managing the internal control (systems) financial flow
  • Pro-actively inform and advise management and take action
  • 3 to 5 years relevant on-the job accounting experience to start as an Assistant Accountant.
