Description

The Program Manager(PM) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program, coordinating with local consultants and staff and IREX HQ in DC.

They will provide technical and administrative oversight and support to staff,consultants, digitalinnovators,and sub-partners for a program in Central Asia.

The PM will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing events among emerging and already established digital leaders and innovators in the region.

They will support local program ambassadors to design and plan events or exchanges in their own communities. The PM will monitor deliverables from consultants and ambassadors and be responsible for management of the local office and employees, and program reporting.

This position is contingent on funding.

Your Background & Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferablyrelated to the skills sought for this position : communications, management, English, media, international development, technology for development, or other related area.
  • Being an alum of USG-funded academic exchange programs would be considered a positive.

  • 5+ years of work experience.
  • Experience with and interest in media, journalism, communication, media literacy, and / or Information and Communication technologyor technology for development.
  • An understanding of the NGO sector and USG-funded projects.
  • Excellent English writing skills required. Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English.
  • Knowledge of Kazakh language preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience with program and training or event management with very strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills is preferred.
  • Ability to network with stakeholders in digital innovation and entrepreneurship inCentral Asia.
  • Excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed : able to identify tasks and be proactive to constantly seek excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, including and especially Excel.
  • Your Daily Tasks

  • Provide technical, reporting, administrative, and logistical support forthe program.
  • Manage program coordinator and possible additional staff.
  • Contribute to procurement processes, including gathering bids, drafting contracts, and other paperwork.
  • Support consultant arrangements, including drafting scopes of work and collecting deliverables.
  • Guide staff, and digital innovators to collaborate and network throughout the region.
  • Mentor and accompany digital innovators and ensure that communityprojects are working according to schedule and meeting targets.
  • Troubleshoot problems with program team.
  • Process and maintain financial records, as needed.
  • Support program participants, including outreach, monitoring, and mentoring.
  • Track a wide range of information and data, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate events, including organizing materials, venue, catering, participant travel, etc.
  • Develop professional support connections withlocal and regional digital innovators and support them to connect with colleagues in the region.
  • Contribute to communications, outreach efforts, social media pages, and reporting.
  • Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation, tracking results to inform project implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
