CIS Emerging Markets (CEM), a part of BAMEAC, is a growing cluster that covers 9 countries. The CEM office is in Almaty.

The position

As Chief Accountant, you will be leading the overall accounting and financial reporting function. You will be the first point of contact for accounting matters for Line of Business, as well as in charge of preparation and following procedures, guidelines, rules, norms for accounting and bookkeeping and tax reports in accordance with Novo Nordisk policies, accounting manuals and local legislation.

You will be acting as a Business partner to Finance and Operations Head CEM and Line of Business, being a role model of Novo Nordisk Way.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain of local accounting and statutory policies / procedures in line with group accounting policies.
  • Organization and control over the maintenance of financial and statutory / tax accounting of Kazakhstan LLP and RepOffice.
  • Accounting, preparation and submission of financial statements in accordance with Group accounting policy.
  • Manage timely, accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closing process with limited adjustments after closing;
  • standardize the closing process.

  • Manage and ensure a consistent and complete reconciliation process of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly / quarterly basis;
  • ensure effective monthly intercompany reconciliation process.

  • Ensure proper documentation of critical accounting estimate and assumptions used.
  • Manage tax requirements and tax declarations, ensure books’ accuracy by setting up and maintaining an effective system of internal controls over financial and statutory reporting.
  • You will be overall responsible for delivering timely and high-quality Annual Questionnaire (package) and year-end closing processes in cooperation with GBS India and external service providers, as well as responsible for delivering timely and high-quality external reporting (statutory Financial statements, VAT, CIT and other tax reporting, statistical reporting).

    Ensure timely tax payments.

  • Communicate effectively with statutory authorities, banks, external auditors and consultants. Single point of contract for accounting for GBS India.
  • Automation of financial and statutory accounting. Support for company projects aimed at improving reporting and consolidation processes.
  • Analysis of financial statements in accordance with the month-end closing procedure.
  • Ensure accounting and statutory records are prepared and maintained in accordance with KZ legislation and Group policies.
  • Review of financial terms in contracts.
  • Share best practices within CEM.
  • Qualifications

  • You hold an academic degree in Finance or Accounting, a master’s degree, as well as a Certification in Accounting, like ACCA / CPA, etc.
  • is considered as a plus.

  • You have experience and knowledge of IFRS, profound knowledge of general accounting principles and general tax matters and strong knowledge of SAP.
  • You possess minimum of 10 years’ experience in reputable audit and accounting function (local accounting office + multinational environment), and at least 3 years of working experience in a similar position (Chief Accountant / Deputy Chief Accountant / Supervisor of Accounting).
  • Experience from pharmaceutical company will be considered as a plus.

  • You have excellent analytical skills, you are detail oriented, quality, process and results driven, with high level accounting and statutory expertise.
  • You are able to perform under strict deadlines and you are comfortable taking on new responsibilities.
  • You are a team player, with a can do attitude, willing to pro-actively and openly communicate with the other members of the team and different stakeholders, able to work with multiple tasks, ability to work in dynamic and changing environment.
  • Furthermore, you have fluency in spoken and written English, have strong communication skills, demonstrating a high ethical approach in your personal and business life.
  • About the department

    You will join a team of Finance and Operations Department responsible for business in CIS Emerging Markets (CEM) : Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.

    You will report to the Finance and Operations Head CEM and be located in Almaty.
