Position Purpose

  • The Medical Advisor CAUCAR is accountable for assigned medical and scientific initiatives related to the country product portfolio and for working with the Cluster Medical Leadership team on the development and execution of the Cluster Medical Team’s vision and strategic / operational plans.
  • In the countries markets, he / she is responsible for developing and executing the medical plan that supports the strategic operating goals for the business in close cross-
  • functional collaboration, and is the single point of accountability for medical and scientific initiatives related to the product portfolio.

    Primary Responsibilities

  • Builds and develops enduring peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions, creating constructive, cross-
  • functional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to generate customer insights and leverage business opportunities

  • Provides in country Medical affairs support for her assigned portfolio of medicines
  • Provides support to cross functional teams to obtain the access to products
  • Oversights in country medical responsibility for all regulatory, safety and product quality activities related to her assigned portfolio of medicines
  • Provides medical review of promotional materials and other promotional activity as required by legislation and Pfizer SOPs
  • Provides medical support to pipeline / early development products
  • Provides in country medical support as required for Medical Information teams
  • Works with the line manager and the Country Medical Director on the Country Medical Council to ensure in country compliance of all medical / business activities with local legislation, and Pfizer local / global SOPs
  • Develops and maintain high level professional relationship with opinion leaders and healthcare professionals
  • Provides medical guidance and input to commercial, regulatory, access and all other country teams as required in support of key product and environment activities
  • Develops and executes a medical strategy that supports the country operating plans with a specific focus on generating medical insights;
  • e.g. portfolio maximization, local business development initiatives

  • Ensures the alignment of country medical plans in accordance with the medical plan
  • Provides medical leadership on the implementation of regional strategies as required
  • Spokesperson for relevant therapeutic areas
  • Participates in medical initiatives that are above country and possibly above region to further medical excellence.
  • Champions a culture of compliance : ensure application of Pfizer internal standards and local regulations in regulatory, drugs safety and medical affairs including those related to CEP, drug shortage situation, promotional material, medical and scientific relations, transparency of grants payments and FCPA across the assigned portfolio in his / her country(ies)
  • Ensures medical / product training for the internal colleagues (sales force, marketing, other)
  • Local approval of material produced in BU in country e. g local marketing material
  • Develops highly functioning teams and can grow and develop colleagues
  • Resources Managed (budget and FTEs)

  • Accountable for country(ies) medical budget.
  • Clinical studies, IIRs, grants, projects
  • Input to in country and above country strategy of clinical plans for assigned products
  • Advice on development of IIR concept and full proposal (in line with brand IIR strategy)
  • Support the global development programs and initiatives (i.e. clinical trial development, compliance and other cross functional initiatives, through collaboration with the Country Clinical operations as appropriate.
  • Medical information related duties

  • Provides responses to medical inquiries coming from internal and external customers for specified therapeutic area
  • Responsible for tracking and maintenance of needed information
  • To Handle Medical Information Inquiries and its documentation according to MI01 GSOP and MI01-WI-SVK01
  • Required Experience, Training, & Education :

  • Appropriately qualified (higher level science degree, pharmacist or doctor)
  • Appropriate therapeutic knowledge (Rare Diseases) preferred
  • Fluency in business English and local language
  • An in-depth knowledge of the products in the portfolio as well as an understanding of the therapeutic context including competitors
  • A good understanding of clinical research as well as the ability to critically evaluate clinical studies whether a protocol or publication
  • An understanding of the national and regional health environment including its structure, policy, key members and scientific societies
  • A knowledge of health economics and its impact on medical decision making
  • An understanding of the process of drug development
  • Knowledge of the relevant and applicable Codes of Practice, SOPs, regulations and guidelines as they apply to the function.
  • Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and regulatory legislation and how it impacts the product portfolio
