Qualification : Degree in Engineering or Business Studies, preferably degree in related field. Member of Association for Project Management or Association of Cost Engineers.

Good commercial and contract knowledge.

Experience : Minimum of 15 years project control experience on large multi-discipline projects within the Oil and Gas Industry.

Used to heading up large teams.Experience of Corporate Management.

Reports to : Corporate Project Controls Manager

Supervises : Projects Control Staff (Planning / Cost Control / Estimator)

Functional Duties : Directs the establishment and implementation of standard project control procedures and systems for use on projects.

Oversee modifications to these procedures for specific client requirements.Project control procedures are to encompass all activities and systems relating to planning, cost control and estimating.

Manage overhead budgets for the Project Control Department. Ensure Project Control staffing requirements, both numbers and quality, are adequate to meet project requirements.

Approve selection, employment, assignment and development of all Project Control personnel.Assess training needs and oversee the development and implementation of training programmes.

Support the continual improvement, standardization and consistency of Project Control systems, procedures and work processes.

Continuously monitor Project Control performance of projects and take appropriate action, where necessary, to meet project requirements.

Actively support proposal efforts by providing Project Control input and resources, including estimates, plans and management support

Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Good communication skills across all levels within the organization.
  • Provide Project Control input to tenders and presentations to Clients.
  • Understand the project scope and commercial conditions and deal with contractual and claims issues.
  • Set-up and supervise the Project Control taskforce and delegate responsibilities for areas of work to be undertaken to ensure all Project Control services are provided to the project.
  • Ensure the timely implementation of project procedures for Planning, Cost Control and Estimating in accordance with relevant company procedures, systems and practices.
  • Implement risk management.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly project status reports in accordance with the project procedure and Project Control department practice.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and issue, and updating of project programmes.
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of planning, cost control and estimating to incorporate the requirements of changes to the project scope of work.
  • Keep abreast of the ongoing work of the project to discern adverse trends, potential problem areas, opportunities and participate in their proactive management.
  • Establish good relations with the Clients' senior staff, seeking to eliminate criticism and to promote understanding.
