  • Establish and maintain a world class welding and fabrication facility and workshop
  • Lead and mentor the Concentrator Maintenance team in welding, fabrication, rubber lining and wear protection and fixed plant maintenance.

  • Develop and review welding procedures to ensure welding is performed to consistent quality and correct welding standards.
  • Develop, review and improve maintenance procedures for wear protection of process plant equipment including rubber lining, ceramics, composite liners and epoxy coatings.
  • Develop, review and improve maintenance procedures for corrosion protection.
  • Support and mentor the conveyor and belt maintenance team, to improve the quality of conveyor maintenance, belt repair and belt splicing.
  • Optimise the flow of work through the workshop, by implementing improvements through all stages of welding and fabrication work including : metal and materials storage, handling, workshop tooling layout.
  • Mentor the team in correct use of powered tools, hand tools and equipment to ensure safety of people and preservation of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Develop, implement and lead mechanical maintenance for all fixed plant equipment, ancillary facilities and process systems.
  • Support and coordinate the development of maintenance plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Manage the execution of maintenance plans and assessment of efficiency and execution improvements.
  • Manage and implement company safety standards and set expectations at all levels of staff and supporting contractors.
  • Support the integration of a predictive and preventative maintenance culture reflecting use of technology, monitoring, data analysis and RCFA.
  • Coordinate maintenance plans and tasks with Operations, Reliability and Planning / Scheduling Superintendents.
  • Develop staff teamwork skills to ensure integration with Operations and Maintenance, with a mindset of team success.
  • Define, implement and promote systems, training and standards that maximize equipment effectiveness and availability.
  • Lead maintenance practices that will focus on reaching operational excellence, and enhance maintenance capabilities to deliver improved equipment reliability, decreasing repair and maintenance costs.
  • Provide consultation and support to the facility as a Subject Matter Expert in the areas of mechanical integrity compliance and equipment reliability.
  • Developing short and long term strategic objectives and tactical goals for proactive mechanical integrity programs for the facility.
  • Review high-risk maintenance tasks and support oversight and training to minimize risk and failure potential.
  • Ensure that communications are timely and efficient with regard to staff, senior management and other groups as appropriate.
  • This communication will include and senior site meetings, reports as determined by senior management, programmed coordination meetings with operations and maintenance and other meetings as required.

  • Work as part of a team to establish and implement departmental policies, objectives and procedures.
  • Provide leadership for subordinate staff, including activities such as preparing work schedules, preparing job descriptions and assigning specific duties and tasks.
  • Select, train and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunity.
  • Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables are consistently realized within their areas of accountability.
  • Ensure that the highest safety, health and environmental standards are met or exceeded and promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Implement other tasks given by Line manager within own competence.

  • Higher (or postgraduate) education in a relevant major and not less than 1 year of work experience at the production facility;
  • or technical, professional or post-secondary (vocational) education in a relevant major (qualification) and not less than 3 years of work experience at the production facility;
  • or not less than 5 years of work experience at the production facility if there is no relevant education in a trade

  • An engineering tradesperson certificate (or equivalent technical diploma qualification), specializing in Boiler Making, Heavy Fabrication or Welding
  • Proven skills and experience in large earthmoving bucket welding repairs and welding on heavy mobile equipment buckets.
  • Typical examples of equipment include : Hitachi Shovels (eg 3600, 5500, 5600), Cat Wheel Loaders (eg. 994), Cat Mining Shovels, O&K / Terex Shovels (eg. RH200, RH400

  • Experience with welding procedures for Bucket Teeth Adaptors.
  • More than 10 years of fabrication and welding experience in heavy industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings and develop SOPs and weld procedures.
  • Demonstrated skills and competence in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) and FCAW (Flux-Core Arc Welding).
  • Proven skills in welding ferrous alloys, aluminium alloys, copper alloys and other non ferrous alloys.
  • Current Drivers License
  • Experience with wear protection of chutes, bins, tanks and pipelines.
  • Proven background driving equipment maintenance programs and systems.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance strategy processes and practices.
  • Significant experience with the maintenance of large fixed plant equipment and systems.
  • Solid computer skills in business software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with CMMS software systems such as Ellipse, Oracle or SAP.
  • Practical knowledge in planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of HSE rules and regulations and fire safety requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with an unwavering commitment to safety and best practice.
  • Highly developed communication, supervisory, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Skills in report writing and problem solving.
