Working as a core member of our Minerals team in Kazakhstan, you will be responsible for the technical aspects of our regional Geochemistry operations.
You will ensure that our testing activities are carried in accordance with standards such as ISO / IEC . In addition, you will lead a team of Chief Chemists and who will support Geochemistry operations within the region.
More specifically, you will :
Establish, improve and maintain lean and effective method validation, verification and method consistency that aligns with the international standard ISO / IEC for testing laboratories;
Prepare technical templates for protocols and procedures as applicable;
Reviews and approves method validation / verification / transfer / development;
Liaise with Global Technical Management team to verify methodology in use at each site is fit for purpose and in alignment with SGS global policies and procedures;
Support quality investigations and corrective actions to ensure on time closure with other responsible personnel; follow up on effectiveness of corrective action;
Liaise with Quality Systems Manager, Chief Chemists and Client Services personnel in response to complaints involving data non-conformances;
Work with Chief Chemists and department Supervisors to continuously improve lab technical capabilities and services;
Contribute to the training and development of all technical staff in standardized technical and quality policies and procedures;
Escalate unresolved technical issues to the Global Technical Management team for discussion and resolution;
Accountable for the delivery of data to achieve customer satisfaction by maintaining production and specified turnaround targets;
Achieve client satisfaction through laboratory optimization in production and other efficiencies.
A minimum of a BSc degree (or equivalent) is required. MS or PhD in analytical Chemistry an asset;
Minimum of 10 years technical experience in a geoscience related profession, ideally working in a laboratory operation;
Technical expert in one or a combination of ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, Wet Chemistry, Precious metals analysis;
Ideally fluent in English and Russian or comfortable to learn new languages.
