Overview / Responsibilities
Wood (trading locally as PSNK) are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager for our Aktau office in Kazakhstan. The Aktau office is identified as a strategic growth area for the company and thus there is an investment into establishing a strong operations presence in Aktau.
The main office is in Atyrau and has the management team as well as project and engineering staff. This office is the base for growing the local engineering capability in Kazakhstan
In addition to engineering, the office is responsible for all the site based teams working on projects in various formats.
The planned future is an office with full service offering across the aspects of Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM.
A key deliverable of the role is in developing the local office into a fully functional Engineering and Project Management office capable of delivering large FEED packages and full support on EPCm and EPC opportunities for the company.
Ensure all businesses processes and procedures are setup and entrenched into the daily business of the operation
Lead and manage the resources engaged in the operational delivery of our contracted commitments
Engage with the client teams on all projects and ensure that we are exceeding their expectations on project delivery and meeting any commitments made by the project teams
Assist in developing business plans, market services and create bidding opportunities
Foster a culture of excellence in project delivery within the company
Lead by example to ensure a culture where safety is a priority
Foster collaborative behaviour with the wider organisation
Ensure an efficient and effective operating structure is maintained
Review and implement changes to operations as required by the wider business
Identify and agree resource demand for current and future capabilities to satisfy our obligations (interface with Engineering, Project Management and Technical function)
Recruit, professionally manage, and develop direct reports
Identify and develop talent to ensure a sustainable future for the business
Set the professional standards for the staff at all levels and ensure best practice is adopted
Ensure effective collaboration across the various projects to ensure efficient use of resource, a consistent approach to operations and delivery
Manage monthly project reviews and ensure valuation reports that reconcile to the financial systems are produced each month.
Ensure income, cash, gross margin, aged debt and EBT expectations are achieved at project and operations department levels
Produce robust forecasts for all projects
Agree, implement and identify trends in operational KPI’s, taking corrective action as required
Maintain and communicate effectively an appropriate business risk register
Skills / Qualifications
Degree qualified (or equivalent) ideally in an engineering discipline
Due to the role being located within the ME it is required that the candidate also has experience in the management and execution of commissioning and handover of refineries
Ability to identify and implement business strategy and make innovative operational improvements
Ability to assess scope requirements and plan execution
Ability to represent company to client and assess client needs
Ability to initiate, develop, maintain and manage client relationships (CRM)
Excellent technical knowledge and experience of Oil & Gas projects (engineering, construction, completions commissioning and start-up)
Excellent Technical Knowledge of Oil and Gas
Knowledge of applicable legislation and industry practice
Excellent knowledge of industry HSEQ process and practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
